The University of Maine System is seeking to fill a position as Media Services Technician CL2. This position is responsible for performing a dispatch role to complete duties related to the scheduling, delivery, general maintenance, and timely support of a variety of classroom / distance learning and/or audio/video services.
Office related organizational skills play an essential role in this position. The ideal candidate will be able to successfully anticipate scheduling conflicts or staffing shortages; multitask between several software interfaces; deliver and communicate accurate information to office staff members; coordinate detailed information between several university contacts and departments; articulate phone conversations with a professional demeanor; and efficiently adapt to fast changing situations.
Effective communication skills are imperative for this position. The successful candidate will deliver a high degree of customer service satisfaction while interacting with university faculty and staff; external clients; and members of the public. An ability to maintain a calm and pleasant demeanor during times of stress will be necessary in order to deliver exceptional service in a fast paced multifaceted environment. Experience with conflict resolution is preferred.
Tasks are diverse, requiring general knowledge and skill in multiple areas of audio, video, and computer equipment. The Media Services Technician CL2 applies a broad knowledge of classroom / distance learning and/or related audiovisual and computer technologies to ensure consistent and reliable operations and support.
This position is located at the University of Southern Maine, Portland campus.
It has a work schedule of Monday - Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Aptitude with, and desire to learn about and support new technologies including audio, video, computer hardware and software, and media control systems.
Communicates effectively, orally and in writing.
Provide mentoring to students
One year of technical or specialized training beyond high school or combination of equivalent relevant experience and education.
Two years of technology support experience.
Experience with audiovisual technology support.
Strong customer service and general office skills.
Experience with computers, including MS Office.
Valid drivers license.
Must be able to push, pull, lift and move equipment up to 25 lbs on an ongoing, daily basis.
Experience with integrated audiovisual presentation and video teleconferencing technologies.
Familiarity with AMX, Extron or Crestron media control systems.
Live event technology support or planning experience.
One or more years experience in audiovisual and media services in an academic setting.
Experience with the implementation of audiovisual technology.
Experience with live event audio visual support, planning and direction.
Candidates with training and expertise with video conferencing technology will be given preference.
The starting rate is $13.68 for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee within UMS.
